Octavio Gomez
CHAPTER DIRECTOR
Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the south side of Providence, Rhode Island, Octavio discovered his love for technology at an early age. He would take apart his toys and tried to build other toys with them. As he grew up, This love for tinkering turned into his passion and professional career in Information Technology.
While in college, Octavio started his IT career in the helpdesk of a fortune 500 company. After advancing in the ranks of Network Operations, Octavio switched gears into cybersecurity. Diving into all things #Infosec Octavio quickly became part of the community. Now, as a SANS trained CISSP, Octavio enjoys making cybersecurity accessible for others and promotes an inclusive people centric security culture

Marco Malena
DEPUTY DIRECTOR
Marco A. Malena was born in the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. At the age of 14 he was told that he was moving to New York with his father, and a year later moved to Rhode Island where he has been ever since he was 15 year old. Marco is a Unites States Army and National Guard Veteran. Marco always like braking devices apart and try to fix them. As growing up he lost the spirit in for the computer world and he became a sales person for many different companies. Marco was a 91 B Heavy Wheel Vehicle Mechanic for the U.S. Army. After he was medically discharge from his military duties in December 2018 he decided to go back to the computer world. January 2019 he attended New England Institute of Technology where he got a Bachelors Degree in Cyber Security and Network Engineering. While attending NEIT he started working as an intern at a small financial institution, where now he works as an IT Administrator. Marco is currently working on getting his CompTIA Sec+ certification. He plans to seek a position within the United States Department of Defense to continue his dedicated service to the country by contributing his skills and leadership to bolstering national security.
